Berwick Pharmacy has served families in Berwick, Beaconsfield, Officer and Cranbourne for generations, the business commencing in 1948 when pharmacist Stewart Holloway opened a pharmacy at 43 High Street Berwick.

Thirty-five years later, pharmacists Geoff Hume & Geoff Hood purchased Holloway’s Pharmacy, in 1983, the year of the major bushfires.

Much of Upper Beaconsfield was destroyed in those tragic fires and the pharmacy was heavily involved in supplying first aid supplies and urgent medicines to the homeless and injured.

The pharmacy joined the AMCAL brand and was widely known as “Berwick Amcal Pharmacy”.

The first major beauty brand was incorporated into the pharmacy at this time (Estee Lauder), quite a big event for Berwick in those days.

In the previous year, the Berwick bypass had been completed and this helped restore the village atmosphere of Berwick and this was also the start of the next growth phase of the district.

In 1995 the partners purchased a property at 51 High Street (formally the Bank of Melbourne and an estate agency site) to develop much larger premises.

At this time also, two new pharmacist partners Lee Bower and Andrew Davies joined the partnership to assist with the proposed expansion.

In August 1996 the new concept store opened, one of the largest pharmacies in Australia, providing exceptional customer service and best practice professional pharmacy.

In 2008 Darren Pountney, Chris Allen, Pete Tzimos and Grahame Beecroft purchased the pharmacy and from 2015 the  owners changed to Darren Pountney, Kelly Pountney, Pete Tzimos, Stav Mantas-Tzimos, Janette Beecroft and Grahame Beecroft. In February 2019 Stephen Chan joined the partnership.

In 2011, after a major refit and further building extensions, the pharmacy continued winning awards for best practice and exceptional customer service and continues to evolve to meet the needs of our community.

Berwick Pharmacy recently launched an exciting online beauty store www.kianabeauty.com.au and now the pharmacy focuses not only on our local community but also reaches out to customers all around Australia.

The seven current partners also own and operate Eden Rise Pharmasave Pharmacy at Eden Rise Shopping Centre, which is 5km south of Berwick.
