If you have a food allergy and are at risk of anaphylaxis, you can reduce your risk of having a reaction when eating out by taking some precautions:
📃Always carry your ASCIA Action Plan and your EpiPen. (Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia recommends: If you do not have your EpiPen with you, do not eat.)
💻Read the menu before you go to see if there are food choices that suit you. If the restaurant serves a lot of dishes that contain the food you are allergic to, it may be better to choose another venue and cuisine.
📱Call ahead to ask if the restaurant can cater for your needs.
🥜Always tell staff about your allergy at the restaurant and ask questions.
🍜🍴🥛Avoid sharing food, cutlery and other tableware.

The development of an effective vaccine for COVID-19 has been a global public health challenge. The race continues to manufacture and distribute vaccines that are effective and safe, and readily available to billions of people.

On 16 February 2021, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) announced it had granted provisional approval to AstraZeneca Pty Ltd for its COVID-19 vaccine, ChAdOx1-S. This is the second COVID-19 vaccine to receive regulatory approval in Australia.

Provisional approval means that the vaccine has met the high standards of safety, effectiveness and quality required for use in Australia. This allows for temporary registration and inclusion in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) for up to two years with an option to extend provisional registration beyond this initial period.

If you are pregnant, you may have questions about how to protect yourself and your baby from #COVID19.
While the evidence suggests pregnant women aren’t at any greater risk of serious illness from COVID-19 than the general population, it’s still important for pregnant women to take extra care to practise good hygiene and physical distancing.

Well, what we can say about 2020?!? It’s really been a year like no other, and yet here we are at the end of December.
We’ve always known our team are pretty special, but this year? They’ve really stepped up and shown everyone how EXCEPTIONAL they are.
They kept cool under pressure (even when having to tell the 89th person that day that we didn’t have any toilet paper), seamlessly made all the changes that were required like social distancing and hourly wiping down of all surfaces, and kept smiling behind their face masks.
Thank you to every single person who has supported us, and especially those who took a minute for a kind or encouraging word. It really meant a lot on those stressful days. We feel so lucky to be a part of the wonderful Berwick community.
We wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We hope 2021 is a better one for us all!
PS. We are open 8am to 7pm for any last minute gifts.
